2025 Indoor Plant Festival Classes   

We're excited to share that we've put together an amazing lineup of expert speakers who will be diving into a variety of fascinating indoor plant topics! To make sure everyone has a great experience, we’ve reserved two spacious classrooms at the event center, where all classes will be held. Best of all, these classes are completely free for anyone who has purchased a weekend pass.

Class space is limited, so access is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please arrive on time to get in to the class!

Class Descriptions

Orchids Basics:

Speaker: Joe Grienauer [Emerald City Orchids]
Learn how to grow epiphytes in the Pacific Northwest. Learn about our seasonal conditions, and what plants do well here, which will struggle and how to optimize your growing space.

Topics will include light, watering, potting (or mounting), media.

Cactus & Succulent Basics:

Speaker: Karen Summers
The Cascade Cactus and Succulent Club is hosting long-time expert Karen Summers for an informative session on the fascinating world of cacti and succulents. Learn expert tips on cultivation, care, and propagation.

Gesneriad & African Violet Basics:

Led by Denny Van Dorn and The Puget Sound Chapter of The Gesneriad Society
These local experts come together to share their knowledge on growing and caring for gesneriads covering tips, troubleshooting common issues, and discussing the latest trends in gesneriad cultivation.

Ariod Basics:

Speaker: Cheyan Deval [CheyDPlantLady]
Cheyan - a local expert on aroids and other houseplants will give us a unique look at a beautiful set of plants, their basic care and requirements.

Nepenthes and Carnivorous Plants:

Speaker: Andy Wright
Owner of one of the largest and rarest collection of Nepenthes in the pacific northwest, Andy will walk thru the differences in care between highland / lowland Nepenthes, and how to get started with this amazing set of carnivorous plants..

Tropical Begonia Basics:

Speaker: Stella Barnum
Stella is one of the founders of the local chapter of the American Begonia Societies Northwest Chapter. She will walk thru this group of plants, and give you a high level overview of their care and needs.

Cold Hardy Carnivorous Plants:

Speaker: Phaedra Dunko [Courting Frogs Nursery]
While these are not really suitable for cultivation indoors, and in fact do better outside, these plants are wonderful companions to the plants we grow. Phaedra will give tips on growing Sarracenia, Venus Flytraps and their needs in both summer and winter to grow this amazing groups of plants with a carnivorous adaptation.
